Sandcastles

February 28, 2012

Droplets of dust stray from land and lose themselves in sand

that falls through cracks from my hand

I wonder down the shore with threads of thoughts

wandering through all sorts of nonsense.

I do not know what I [ought to] say as I pass a [the?] girl

but she barely notices me and we are universes apart.

She rises up like the Star of Bethlehem from the ocean

and drops into my eyes from the sky

She winds through me like the wind – I cannot hide

I shy away to cover myself, and look back –

The sand is washed from my feet in the foam by the tide

but I can tell she’s still there.
