Consumer Culture, or Consummation

July 24, 2011

We consume planets

swallow civilizations

hold our heads afloat

until technology elevates

men past the moon’s orbit

around earth in time and space

is sold in infinite parts of place-

perhaps we’re all just fractals

surely must die with entropy

is inevitable

and big galaxies eat small galaxies…

We will be consumed.

Perhaps it is only consummation.

Galaxies embrace and build something more –

it’s inevitable.

Eternity makes a pet of entropy;

after all, we’re just fractals

living in finite parts of space.

We’ve yet to pass the moon’s orbit

and technology elevates,

holding our heads afloat

civilizations harboring us

the children of planets.
