Seven Human Virtues

So for English we had to make a list of we thought were the Seven Heavenly Virtues, or what we found to be the seven best characteristics or traits to be. I was thinking about that, as I wanted to do it for real, and I decided that I can’t do it justice because I haven’t decided on whether I believe in any higher purpose/god/whatever. And if there is NOT a God or higher reason besides the pure chance of science that we exist, then morality, right, wrong, good, bad….its all an illusion of our minds-probably a more complex version of a survival instinct brought about by being so intelligent. Anyways, so then man would create meaning.
So I made a list that kind of hybrided (I made that a verb) qualities that would be “good” no matter whether there is anything above us or not, I hybrided that with my work-in-progress view of it all.
AND….I wrote haikus for each one.
So….with no more gilding the lily:
Rationality: That one’s actions have valid reasoning and justification behind them.
Justify your actions,
Who is to judge righteousness?
Reason out your life.
Brotherhood: One feels a kinship with his (or her) fellow man.
Earth can be Eden.
Humanity, coexist.
We walk the same path.
Curiosity: The drive to understand the world and all its mysteries.
Curiosity,
gave birth to philosophy.
Man’s doom and triumph.
Passion: The motivation behind one’s actions, no matter what they may be.
Behind invention,
adrenaline rush of mind.
Forever drives us.
Insight: Having the perceptive ability to withdraw meaning from observations and experiences.
An apple’s free-fall,
Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
Insight brings progress.
Individuality of Mind: The mental independence to make one’s own path, albeit based upon experience, observation, passion, etc.
Man’s mind is his own.
We determine our own fate.
Freedom forever.
Freedom of Way: The overall independence of one’s path. That they make their own way in the world not only in mind, but in practice.
We forge destiny.
Live as lions, not as sheep.
Claim humanity.
